School is closing in

With school starting next week it's hard to know just how to prepare.
At our house it's going to bed at the time we did last year and getting up on time. We've been working in workbooks all summer long and this week has been like crunch time studying for a test. We've been doing more pages than normal and playing more educational games.

I don't want the boys to get tired of school work before it even starts though so we keep trying to find new fun things to do. I'm wondering what others do to have fun in those last few days of summer break to prep for school.

One thing were going to do today is go get haircuts and pick out Little Man's towel for naptime. I'm hoping that most of the summer towels (with the characters) will be on sale by now so he can pick something fun out. If not, I'll be doing a little design work later with some fun fabric on what ever color plain towel he picks. I have a feeling it will be red as it's his favorite color ^-^

When I was younger our last week before school started was always on the lake, and it was always a blast. At this time that's not something we can afford to do, though  we'd love to, but we do want to start some great family traditions. Does your family have one just for this time of year?
